Notice of Claim Against NJ Transit For Hoboken Train Accident

A NJ Transit train on the Pascack Valley line from Spring Valley, N.Y. slammed into the stop barrier at Hoboken Station during the morning rush on September 29, 2016, leaving a 34-year-old woman dead and at least 114 people injured.

The crash caused severe damage to the first and second train cars. The first two train cars are usually the most crowded because they offer the fastest access to other transfer points to Manhattan, including the PATH train. Gov. Chris Christie said the train was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when it came into the station. Eyewitness reports state that the train never felt like it made any attempt to slow down at all.

Because a similar crash occurred in 2011, the accident has renewed discussions about the automated speed control system on NJ Transit.  In the prior accident, the NTSB found that the lack of an automated speed control system contributed to the accident.

If you were injured in the accident, you must file a notice a claim within 90 days of the accident to protect your rights.
