Statute of Limitations Extended For Child Sexual Abuse Claims In New York

By Greg Kohn

On May 11, 2020, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an Executive Order extending the time to file child sexual abuse actions under the New York Child Victims Act to January 14, 2020. The Governor extended the prior August 2020 deadline in order to provide survivors of child sexual abuse much needed additional time to exercise their rights and consult with legal counsel due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
