$400,000 Settlement Against Municipality Where Police Officer Claimed Hostile Work Environment Harassment

A 20 year veteran of a municipal police department contended that after an internal complaint was filed against her boss for disallowance of a work accommodation for a child care and for calling down her husband (another officer in a different department) to answer for her behavior after a verbal confrontation between her and another officer, that the department and its agents engaged in discriminatory and ongoing retaliation including the purposeful tampering of work product, circulating untrue rumors, threatening her husband’s promotion and the display of an inappropriate workplace poster. The case settled prior to trial and subsequent to summary judgment motions which allowed all major theories of the case to proceed forward. The case was handled by partner, Diane E. Sammons.
